Spring Break
Ah, Its nice to not be so grown-up that I can't enjoy spring break. My canadian friend, Indurain, from the OOTS forum drove down 14 hours to pick me up and take me to Indianapolis with him and another OOTS fan. There we had a gathering of 9 forum members for the weekend. HUZZAH! Friday night we played Apples to Apples. Many people there hadn't played it before, but they learned quickly. The only two words I won were "crazy" and "crazed." I think El Jaspero won with 8 cards.
On Saturday, we were introduced to Kubb. Its a swedish lawn game that involves the throwing of sticks at targets and then defending your targets and proper strategic placement of the fallen targets. Its sooooo much fun that we played 2 games, then went to do something else, and played 2 more games, and Sunday morning before leaving we snuck in 2 more. In this day and age of fancy electronics, I smile to see I can still be entertained with 15 peices of wood.
We also played Iron Heroes on Saturday night. El Jaspero is a fun GM and it was a good time had by all. The system is scarce magic system where most of the classes are variations of fighters. It used tokens, too. Tokens are a lot of fun whenever you use M&M's for them. The reserve hit points were an interesting touch, as well. JOY!
Curses was also played. This was the best game of Curses yet. Everyone was into their curses and not just fulfilling the curse, but really hamming it up. We had a Scooby-Doo who thought he was Napeoloen. WOOOOO. Poor Thes, she tried so hard, but ultimately fell victim to the evil "Can't bend elbows" "wrists must touch chest combo" and lost.
I won a snoring contest, too. I shouldn't be proud of that, but I am.
P.S. Its fun to get scratched behind the ears. Maybe its placebo, but its glee.
